Having earned ISCC Plus certification for bio-circular plastics for its sales locations in France and Germany in May, Albis has now announced that another 4 sales regions have also successfully come through the audits conducted by the certification specialist DQS CFS GmbH. The newly ISCC Plus certified regions, who are now able to sell certified material from their sustainable portfolio, are the subsidiaries in Austria, the Benelux Union, the Nordics & Baltics region and the UK. The company further added that Albis subsidiaries in Italy and Switzerland have both passed their ISCC PLUS audits and will receive their certificates from DQS in the upcoming weeks.
The biocircular mass-balanced products in Albis’ sustainability portfolio are produced using a proportion of organic waste that is fed into the reactors during the polymerisation process. They are 'drop-in' solutions that significantly reduce the carbon footprint without the need for further testing or validation.
“The advantage of this approach is that the resulting polymers are identical to their 100% conventionally produced counterparts," explained Tony Harrison, Senior Director Global TSAD at Albis. "From a technical point of view, this enables The ISCC PLUS program ensures that the amount of bio-based raw materials used in the production of certain types of polymers is strictly monitored using the mass balance approach, ensuring full transparency and clear rules throughout the supply chain, from polymer production to the final product."
Because of this, it fulfills an essential prerequisite for sustainable transformation, added Susann Schrader, Senior Director Product Management and Sales Standard & Sustainable Polymers at Albis.
ISCC PLUS certification is an essential requirement for supplying other certified companies. It ensures compliance with environmental and social standards, creating a clear verification base in the production of bio-circular plastics by controlling all value-added steps. More than 5,000 companies from over 100 countries are already certified, including a wide range of well-known companies and Albis distribution partners.
Certified materials from the sustainable portfolio of Albis include such well-knows names as Circulen Renew from LyondellBasell, Makrolon RE, Bayblend RE and Makroblend RE from Covestro, Styroflex ECO, Styrolux ECO, Luran ECO, Nas ECO and Novodur ECO from Ineos Styrolution, Durethan Scopeblue from Lanxess and Arbofill from Tecnaro.
Further certifications of sales regions are already planned for 2023.
