Owned by the city of Hong Kong and operated by the Alba Group, the Hong Kong WEEE Park, South East Asia’s most advanced facility for the treatment and recovery of electrical and electronic waste, recently celebrated a milestone achievement with the recycling of its two millionth piece of equipment.
The facility, which opened in 2018, specialises in processing regulated electronic waste and is the biggest combined facility in the world for the range of equipment that it processes.
It is located in the EcoPark in Hong Kong.
The Alba Group secured the contract - the biggest single order in its company history - in the year 2015. Under the contract, the Group is responsible for running the facility, as well as operation of a comprehensive collection system with satellite collection centres and an in-house fleet of HGVs.
“Our cutting- edge recycling technology and know-how have made us an important partner for the protection of the environment and the climate in Hong Kong,” declared Axel Schweitzer, chairman of the board of the Alba Group.
