Chemical Recycling Europe has announced that Agilyx AS, which is headquartered in Oslo, Norway, has become its newest member. Chemical Recycling Europe was founded in 2019 with the aim of bringing the advanced recycling industry together to promote and implement the solutions that the chemical recycling of plastic waste has to offer. The association is the professional representative body of chemical recyclers in Europe and represents its members' interests in the political and public arenas.
Chemical recycling pioneer Agilyx was established in the U.S. in 2004, today operates a fully commercial polystyrene chemical recycling facility at Tigard, Oregon, through its joint venture Regenyx. The company moved into Europe earlier and is currently listed on the Merkur Market, part of Oslo Stock Exchange.
In Europe, circularity ‘is set high on the agenda’, said ChemRecEurope Secretary General, Mohammad Hayatifar, and the move was welcomed as a means to provide more accessibility to Agilyx’s technology and know-how. The company already has numerous chemical recycling projects underway with partners in Europe, the US and Japan.
