UK packaging firm Palagan has launched a range of polythene box liners that reduces product entrapment “to zero”.
The technology, according to the Dunstable-based company, can save up to 5% in materials used in box liner corners or pockets.
In a 31 Oct statement, Palagan said it had invested €1.36m in upgrading its manufacturing plant to develop a specialised sealing head to seal all pockets or corners closed within all box liners.
In addition to reducing product entrapment, the new box liner design also fits the shape of boxes better, making the square pallets neater.
“Palagan are committed to investing in technologies to reduce customer product waste. Now, the same quantity of product that fills the box liner is the same quantity that come out the box liner.” states Simon Barton, Palagan's managing director.
The polyethene packaging specialist has also invested in a new technology to increase the average recycled content of its products to 30% by 2025.
In an emailed statement to PNE, Palagan said it had an Arema recycling line as part of a £1m investment to support its plans for making more environmentally efficient bags and films.
The company installed the recycling system in June to process its own virgin set-up waste into high-quality recycled materials.
“By reprocessing our set-up scrap internally, we maintain complete control of the recycled content,” concluded Barton.
