Plastics recycling machinery supplier Herbold Meckesheim GmbH has been hit by “a devastating” fire which broke out at its production site in Meckesheim, Germany, during the night of 10 Sept.
The fire struck the central warehouse and the shipping department of the site, Meckesheim announced 11 Sept, saying the damage was estimated to run into the millions. No casualties were reported.
Office space, the test centre and the production halls were not affected by the fire, and production will continue with “certain restrictions”, the company noted.
Herbold said it had already started the repair work in collaboration with its insurance company and would try to avoid serious delivery bottlenecks.
“The low in-house production depth and a high quantity of supplies from subcontractors will enable a quick restart of machine and spare parts deliveries as soon as logistics have been put back on track,” the company added.
