BENCH MARK: Kerry, Councillor Haken and Scott at one of the Cote Heath benches

At the Buxton Spring Fair on 1 May, Nestlé Waters in partnership with RECOUP, hosted an interactive stall to raise awareness of the importance of plastic recycling. The visiting community was also asked to help recycle as many of their used plastic bottles as possible during the day.

The collected bottles have now been recycled into two benches, which Nestlé Waters have donated to the community.

“We hope these benches will be enjoyed by the community and be a great reminder of the positive impact recycling can have for society and the planet,” said Hayley Lloyd-House, Head of Communications, Nestlé Waters.

They have been installed at Cote Heath park in Buxton.

Offering a ”big thank you” to everyone who recycled their water bottles and to Nestlé and RECOUP for their “continued commitment to the environment”,  John Haken, Executive Councillor for Operational Services at the High Peak Borough Council, noted that it was “surprising just what our used items can be converted into with so many of the things we no longer need being turned into something useful and unexpected”.

“This just goes to show the value of recycling,” he said.

RECOUP (RECycling Of Used Plastics Limited) is a registered charity that works in collaboration with all stakeholders to promote, develop, stimulate and increase the levels of plastics recycling within the UK. As the UK's leading authority on plastics waste and resource management, it provides expertise and guidance to a wide range of clients across the plastics supply, use and disposal chain. The group organises and promotes recycling activities and events with companies and communities throughout the UK.
