Kitchen appliance maker Breville will supply compostable juicer bags from Cardia Bioplastics for its juicer products after the two companies signed an agreement.
“We recognised that consumers are always looking for even faster clean-up when they're using a juicer and that most were using their produce bags in their pulp bins to help with the clean-up,” said Breville spokesperson Michelle Smith-Aiken. “We saw this as an unhealthy disposal of plastic and wanted to come up with a more environmentally responsible way.”
Cardia says the deal is part of plans to align with the major brand owners and packaging companies which want to switch from oil-based packaging materials to bioplastics.
The Breville juicer bags will be supplied in the US.
