The Austrian plastics moulder Alpla has opened a new €9m PET recycling plant in the Radomsko district of the special economic zone of Lodz, Poland.
Its recycling subsidiary PRT recently launched the PRT Radomsko operation to produce high grade material for the production of new packaging including PET bottles. The r-PET can also be used in the manufacture of travel bags, backpacks, laptop computers and fleece jackets.
Hard, Austria-based Alpla, which got the formal Polish planning go ahead for its latest recycling operation in 2011, expects the PRT Radomsko unit to create at least 30 new jobs.
The group, a packaging stretch blow, extrusion blow injection blow moulding specialist as well as injection moulding caps and PET bottle preforms, operates three other plants in Poland located in Nowy Dwor, Ostrow and Zywiec.
Today, the group, which employs a global workforce of 14,000 and recorded annual turnover worth €3 billion last year, has 149 production plants across 39 countries worldwide.
