PET recycler Aserpet, based in Gaziantep, Turkey, has entered the packaging market with the installation of a PET sheet extrusion line.
Machinery group Processing Technologies International (PTi), based in Aurora, US, said its sale of the extrusion system to Aserpet is the first it has made in Turkey.
In a press release, PTi said Aserpet “purchased its first sheet extrusion line to help support the company's entrance into the packaging industries”.
PTi supplied a coextrusion system which runs 750 kg/hr of PET, plus a roll stand, winder, and stacker.
Aserpet's website says it started production of recycled PET flake at a rate of 520 tonnes/month in 2007.
Patrick Johnsen, PTi's eastern regional sales manager, said: “We're excited about entering the Turkish market because it represents another important step in our global growth strategy.”
He added that Turkey's economy has remained strong during the global economic slowdown and the country has good growth prospects.
