Wallcovering Pubblicità, a design company based in Italy, is using recycled PVC to create poles for street signs.
The initial concept was to take the existing street signs and signals and find a sustainable way to turn them into billboards using colourful, recycled PVC. Wallcovering Pubblicità used an extrusion-injection process.
''TrialSystem is an innovative kind of eco-design that satisfies two key needs of contemporary urban habitats: communication and respect for the environment,'' says Davide Noti, CEO of the company.
The system consists of two weight-bearing elements and one for closure. The sheath is triangular with an open angle, the ends of which include dual-section rods for stabilisation. TrialSystem can be customized on three sides to display information about advertising or sponsorship.
Noti says the system could also be used to add wireless technology to poles.
