In June, HDPE producers managed to raise notations following two months of softening prices. Producers were, however, calling for price increases of E80/tonne at the start of the month but had to settle for smaller gains.
Blow moulding grades gained most, up E50-60/tonne compared with May. Injection moulding product was E35-40/tonne higher with blown film up by E20/tonne.
Good material availability, particularly for blown film, prevented prices from rising further. Demand was normal for June and there was some limited evidence of pre-buying as converters attempted to buy additional material in advance of further significant price increases for July.
