Way forward for plastics recycling in Asia: perspectives ahead of PRS Asia
October 29, 2024
The inaugural Plastics Recycling Show (PRS) Asia will take place at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Singapore, on Nov. 13-14, 2024. For two days, the world of recycling will come together at this event to discuss important developments in this fast-evolving sector.
Asia is one the world’s regions most affected my plastics pollution. But it is also home to one of the highest plastic recycling rates in the world - in South Korea – and to one of the largest producers of plastics recycling machinery – China. This is a region where policy developments abound - countries like Vietnam and Malaysia are introducing Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes to formalise waste collection – and plastics recycling capacity is on the rise. What is the way forward for the industry in 2024 and beyond?
Join us to discuss the challenges and opportunities for the Asian plastics recycling industry ahead of this year’s PRS Asia.
Our guest speakers from the Alliance to End Plastic Waste, CMG Granulators, and Bausano will provide their perspectives on the dynamics shaping the plastics recycling market in Asia, a fragmented region where governments are increasingly turning to legislation – locally and globally - to improve waste management, collection, and sorting. We will discuss the technological innovations springing from the region and some of the projects that have pioneered recycling in different Asian countries.
The livestream will be moderated by Sustainable Plastics editor Karen Laird and associate editor Beatriz Santos.
